description: Non-partisan education about Washington and Federal Government ineffectiveness which is placing our country at substantial risk, and burdening young Americans. Learn about our fiscal system, revenues, expenses and the national debt. Understand the dangers, and that there is not a political solution. Americans have the ability to force changes limiting the weaknesses of politicians and bureaucracy that facilitate the overwhelmingly irresponsible fiscal practice, our Fiscal Cancer.

-
INTRODUCTION
-

-
This website will always be a work in progress. It exists to provide some critical information and thoughts, and help people understand that this threat is by far, too serious to ignore. Voting for people that will place the highest priority on curing our nation's "fiscal cancer" may be one of the most important actions of your lifetime. If you are young, Washington and your elders supporting the status quo are stealing your future. If you are a bit older like me, you've got to muster the courage to see the truth and ask yourself if you are too selfish to assure the opportunities of America are available for those that will come behind you and me, like my daughter.
-

-
The existing fiscal system is fatally flawed, and I have to believe that there are some alternatives that are not. Importantly, what is missing with regard to the national dialogue on this subject is discussion of this as a SYSTEM problem, and as a decision of RISK management. It is only in this vein that poor attempts at addressing the problem are seen as such, and that better solutions can emerge. In this website I am trying to construct a framework of communication and information that will help others see this, what I see, what our country needs to see, nothing more. I can try to lead folks to water, but I can’t make them drink, although I certainly would like them to, and I promise it won't hurt. For a little something to whet your thirst though, see some interesting facts about the national debt, then please return here. What I want to communicate goes beyond the mere presence of a problem, but how dire the situation is – that solving this problem cannot wait. It must have the highest priority, even though we all have other concerns. For many of us this problem seems less important because we have difficulty seeing the risk, and for most of us emotion rises above logic and pragmatism. The “problem solving” vein of this conversation necessarily also involves the consideration of urgency, on its own merits and in comparison to other issues.I hope you’ve made it this far, and will continue. There’s a real good chance it won’t be a waste of your time even if it doesn’t change your thinking. If nothing else you may pick up some useful information. The framework will Isolate relevant variables, compartmentalize the different “moving pieces”, both in terms of the key structural issues, and the external forces, apply analytic and visualization tools, and explain how these impact outcomes. You’ll learn about the importance of identifying the spectrum of possible outcomes and assessing risk.

-
I like No BUTS, I cannot lie…
-
“but” is one of the most treacherous words in our language, because its often followed by some misguided rationalization convincing one’s self NOT to make the right decision. Replacing rationalization with rational thinking – one of the problem-solving tenets that will be discussed here.

-
Our country is not immune to economic collapse. Conditions are ideal for another Great Depression, and increasing debt is an anchor pulling us under. This outcome is inescapable without solving this problem.

-
theguy@ruiningamerica:
-
I’ve worked with planning and designing systems using complex estimation models involving both mathematical and social data for over 30 years, within the institutional environs of government, not unlike economic and budgeting models. Both require major simplifications of explanatory variables and cause/effect relationships, to create long-range forecasts for decision-making, and involve processes that are influenced by the institutional and administrative forces of government. I’ve also worked in the private sector – I’ve seen both sides. Add in research on the subject, like Nobel Laureate Dr. Herbert Simon’s Administrative Behavior, and I’ve developed an applicable skill set that few have.
-

-
I’ve found quite a bit of useful information directly from government websites for the IRS, Social Security, Congress and the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). Other sites have included non-partisan organizations like the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) and the Tax Policy Center. I'm not making anything up on this website. All of the scary information you could ever want is there for everyone to see.As I’ve tried to research this subject area, I’ve also run into the problem that we all do – misinformation. And of course there’s the endless blathering of same on TV. One of the sad things about capitalism is that some people capitalize on confusion. There’s a whole lot of money and power to be gained out there – in the 21st century there are even more snake-oil salesmen. What was particularly frustrating was the “reporting” using supposedly “informative statistics” that had any other purpose than to place blame on a person, group or party. So one of the necessities that we’ll talk about is filtering through the misleading to find what’s true. One place to start is to get the information as directly as possible and using reports from reputable institutions.
